SONIC TEMPLE

SONIC TEMPLE

Over the weekend I went to a music festival in Columbus called sonic temple to see a bunch of bands I like. It was my first ever music festival and they had a pretty good lineup of metal bands like Converge, Testament, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, and headlining was Metallica. I'm a big Metallica fan so getting to see them live was completely awesome!!! THEY EVEN PLAYED MY FAVORITE SONG BATTERY!!!!!

While the festival was awesome it definitely took some getting used too like how the whole thing was outside and my entire group got sunburnt really badly. Also the food in the venue was all really expensive like it was five dollars for a water bottle. I somehow managed to sneak my own water bottle in but when it was empty I was pretty much out of luck. All the water dispensaries near where we were sitting were VIP only so if we wanted to refill we'd have to walk all the way to the entrance. You see we planted ourselves in pretty good seats that overlooked the entire stadium and we weren't willing to give them up so when ever we had to go to the bathroom or something we took shifts which also meant having to sit in those bleacher seats for what was about 6 whole hours. Which meant my ass was killing me by the time we left. Not to mention we had to wait almost 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot and I didn't get home till like 3am.

Anyway with my grievances out of the way I'll give you a run down of each of the concerts. The first real big name we watched was Alice Cooper. I wasn't too familiar with him before this, I knew Schools out and Feed my Frankenstein but that was it. I guess I never knew how weird he was like he brought a live snake onto stage at one point, pretended to stab a guy who was taking photos, and had his wife come on stage to cut his head off with a guillotine. It was definitely entertaining.

Next was Rob Zombie and keep in mind we had to wait about either an hour or two hours for the performances because they had to set everything up so having to sit there and not give up our seats was pretty grueling. Rob Zombie's show was really cool cause he had all these stage props and visuals. Unfortunately the whole thing was having technical issues like when he preformed "Living Dead Girl" his mic cut out and you could tell he was getting pretty annoyed by it. He also brought all these weird stage props including famous character SCP-2006.

(you can actually see in the image the parts that were having technical difficulties, those numbers are not supposed to be there)
Anyways Metallica sure is a band that exists. We had to wait another two hours for them to play and I'm not really sure it was worth it. We only got to see the first set list unfortunately and they mostly played songs that I didn't know a lot of which were from 72 seasons. The ones that I actually knew were King Nothing, If Darkness Had a Son, Nothing else Matters, Battery, Fuel, Seek and Destroy, and Master of Puppets. It was kinda boring the first half because I didn't know most of the songs but when they played the opening bit of Battery I went fucking nuts. That's like one of my favorite Metallica songs and to hear it live was awesome. I also I never realized that James is just like a funny guy. He's got huge cool dad energy to him, like when he played King Nothing he was like "this is one of our songs from one of our albums, I don't remember which maybe you know it." before going fucking crazy. Also at the end when they played Seek and Destroy you would think they had nothing else to play because there was only like 3 minutes left in the show but as everyone started walking away they start playing the opening riff to Master of Puppets and everyone did a complete 360.

In conclusion, I got sun burnt to hell, my ass hurts, had to wait 2 hours to get out of the parking lot, didn't get home till 3am and woke up the next morning with a horrible migraine. 10/10 would do it again.
